2018 Royal Rumble Predictions

The 2018 Royal Rumble is just six days away, Gear4Geeks runs down who is in the Rumble, who isn’t and who the surprise entrants may be.

WWE 2018 Royal Rumble

The Royal Rumble is one of WWE’s most exciting events thanks to its unpredictability and this year is even more unpredictable thanks to injuries, there being two Royal Rumble matches and other huge issues at play. Firstly there’s tonight’s Raw 25 event which will see the return of stars from the past which will celebrate the history of Raw, which is interesting as WWE look to be possibly moving from the USA Network which hosts Raw once the contract expires next year.

Raw 25

Confirmed appearances:

  • Stone Cold Steve Austin
  • The Undertaker
  • Shawn Michaels
  • Chris Jericho
  • Torrie Wilson
  • Jim Ross
  • Jerry Lawler
  • Jacqueline
  • The Dudley Boyz
  • Ric Flair
  • Christian
  • Maria Kanellis
  • Scott Hall
  • The Bella Twins
  • The New Age Outlaws
  • Terri Runnels
  • Eric Bischoff
  • The APA
  • Kelly Kelly
  • Michelle McCool
  • The Brooklyn Brawler
  • The Godfather
  • Brother Love
  • The Boogeyman
  • Teddy Long
  • The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase
  • John Laurenitis
  • Harvey Wippleman
  • Lillian Garcia
  • Jonathan Coachman
  • MVP
  • William Regal
  • Howard Finkel

Any of those could potentially be surprise 2018 Royal Rumble entrants but we’ll get back to that.

Women’s 2018 Royal Rumble

We know that Paige is out of this match as she suffered an injury recently which is expected to end her in ring career.

Confirmed entrants are:

  • Asuka
  • Ruby Riott
  • Liv Morgan
  • Sarah Logan
  • Sasha Banks
  • Nia Jax
  • Bayley
  • Naomi
  • Natalya
  • Sonya Deville
  • Mandy Rose
  • Mickie James
  • Tamina Snuka
  • Lana
  • Carmella
  • Becky Lynch
  • Alisha Fox
  • Dana Brooke

This leaves 12 spots to be filled. Nikki Bella is a good bet to be one of the entrants, Maryse is also a safe guess, but the others are pure speculation. With Michelle McCool and Kelly Kelly appearing on Raw 25 they could also be in the Rumble, other possibles would be Lita, JacquelineBeth Phoenix, Vickie Guerrero and Trish Stratus along with new signee Candice LeRae. A name from far out is Kharma returning. The big speculation has been about UFC fighter Ronda Rousey making her WWE debut at the 2018 Royal Rumble, which seems entirely possible but quite unlikely as Ronda hasn’t apparently signed a deal yet.

Our prediction for the women’s 2018 Royal Rumble winner is Asuka, setting up Asuka/Charlotte for Wrestlemania.

Asuka 2018 Royal Rumble

Men’s 2018 Royal Rumble

Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy, Big Cass and Dean Ambrose are all out with injuries so won’t be involved. The 2017 Royal Rumble match was our match of the year so we’re excited for this one!

Confirmed entrants:

  • John Cena
  • Finn Balor
  • Randy Orton
  • Shinsuke Nakamura
  • Elias
  • Baron Corbin
  • Matt Hardy
  • Bray Wyatt
  • Aiden English
  • Rusev
  • Titus O’Neil
  • Apollo Crews

That leaves 18 spots to be filled. Ricochet and War Machine have signed with WWE with all three presumably going to be at NXT but Ricochet could make an appearance in the Rumble. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Big E, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Enzo Amore, Bobby Roode, The Miz, Jinder Mahal, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are all pretty safe bets to appear so who will fill out the last spots? Big Show is possible as is Mark Henry who recently said he was retired then changed his mind. From the Raw 25 guests, Chris Jericho, William Regal, The Dudley Boyz, MVP, The New Age Outlaws and The APA are all possibles as is The Undertaker. While The Undertaker seemingly retired last year there’s been talk of him returning to face John Cena at Wrestlemania, which hopefully is nothing more than a rumour.  Brawn Strowman could also be an entrant if he’s unsuccessful against Brock Lesnar and Kane and Dolph Ziggler could make his return.

Roman Reigns 2018 Royal Rumble

It’s hard to predict how the event will go down. If AJ Styles retains against the Yep Movement then a Shinsuke Nakamura or Finn Balor Royal Rumble win is a possibility. Brock is pretty likely to retain in order to set up him against Roman Reigns and Reigns is a bigger name than Nakamura and Balor so expect Roman Reigns to be the 2018 Royal Rumble winner.

What do you think? Who are your choices to win the dual Royal Rumble events?
