Rocks. Fwends. Starscream’s Toast reviews the Labyrinth Ludo Pop Vinyl figure from Funko.

It’s been a little while since I reviewed Jareth the Goblin King from the Funko Pop range of Labyrinth figures but I’ve finally gotten around to sorting out pictures of the Labyrinth Ludo Pop Vinyl figure. Ludo is the big loveable creature that Sarah finds hung upside down and being tormented by Goblins as she navigates her way through Jareth’s Labyrinth. After freeing him he accompanies her on her journey.

The box features the Labyrinth 30th anniversary logo and shows the other figures available in the range. I’m not sure why but the Labyrinth boxes graphically seem nicer than most Pop Vinyls, Funko have done a tremendous job of capturing the essence of Labyrinth here. Ludo is a very large character in the film, consequently his Funko Pop is an oversized one to get his scale right with the other Labyrinth Funko Pops – Sarah, Jareth and Hoggle. Often the oversized Pops seem to be done for the sake of it, whereas in this instance Ludo is perfect for the larger scale. Labyrinth Ludo Pop Vinyl Figure

The figure is a great representation of Ludo and is a great reminder how Funko’s real strength is when it comes to non-human characters. Don’t get me wrong, I’m constantly amazed by how Funko capture the likenesses of people with so little detail but non human characters are often more detailed and Funko really excel when it comes to detailing.

The fur sculpting is awesome here and this particular figure had very nice paint applications too which is an area where Funko can be particularly weak. The film version of Ludo isn’t a particularly cute character; big and loveable sure but cute? Not really. The Ludo Pop Vinyl on the other hand is extremely cute and it’s hard to imagine anyone not finding it to be a very sweet figure.

I don’t think I’d ever realised that Ludo has a tail until I got this figure, kinda weird I know. Something that always surprises me is how much detail Funko put into the back of it’s Pop Vinyl figures, many companies leave the backs fairly blank and place copyright stamps there but Funko put tremendous effort in as you can see here with Ludo, much like they did with Jareth’s jacket.

It’s really hard to see any Labyrinth fan not loving the Labyrinth Ludo Pop Vinyl figure, sure he may not be David Bowie and his bulging crotch but a big orange monster with a speech impediment is a damn fine runner up!

We’ve sold out of Ludo in our store but we do have other Funko Pop Vinyl figures available. Ludo is still available from Amazon.co.uk
