Labyrinth Jareth Funko Pop Vinyl Figure Review by StarscreamsToast
When Funko announced Pop Vinyls based on Labyrinth the collective “SQUEEEEEEE” of women everywhere could probably be heard on the International Space Station. The reason for that excitement? Jareth.
Sure plenty of people wanted the adorable giant sized Ludo, the friendly Dwarf Hoggle and the film’s protagonist Sarah…okay, that’s a lie, no one wanted Sarah which is why she was packed with the worm figure, but the point is that everyone wanted Jareth. 30 years of waiting to get their hands on the late David Bowie’s Goblin King was finally realised, albeit in plastic form.
The box packaging features the Labyrinth branding along with the ’30 years’ bubble to mark the movie’s anniversary. Fun trivia – the film was a massive flop at the box office but gained a massive cult following from children watching the film on TV and home video.
The back of the box shows the other Labyrinth Pop Vinyl figures – Jareth is numbered 364 in the Funko Pop Movie range with Sarah being 363, the exclusive Jareth with Orb Hot Topic exclusive numbered 365, Ludo is 366 and finally Hoggle is number 367.
Out of the box Jareth is immediately recognisable and is actually pretty detailed for a Funko Pop Vinyl with a lot of attention to detail on his jacket with its studs, collars, cuffs and belt looking amazing. Bowie’s infamous uhhh…’bulge’ is also present.
David Bowie sadly died in January 2016 with the Labyrinth Jareth Pop Vinyl figure not shipping until November 2016 but it was a nice way for Bowie fans to round the year out with a very nice figure depicting Bowie in one of his most loved and iconic roles.
