Marvel Legends Spider-Man (Movie) Review

We have a new love of Marvel Legends, so let’s take a look at Marvel Legends Spider-Man (Movie Version)

Marvel Legends has been running since 2002 but personally I’ve had little real experience of them until recently when I picked up this Marvel Legends Spider-Man for £2 posted on Ebay. This particular Spidey is the movie version from 2014’s Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie and as a first figure, he is a good one.

The figure’s paint job is a little spotty in places though I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt as it was preowned but it is a solid representation of the AM2 movie costume. With 19 points of articulation the figure is incredibly pose-able too but as can be expected from very articulated figures, the joints become loose fairly quickly. The worst offenders here are the hips with the right leg regularly falling off – again, the joys of buying second hand figures.

Due to this looseness in the joints getting Spidey to stand straight, let alone posed, was a challenge and unfortunately meant that this review had to be a little light on pictures. There’s only so many hundreds of times a figure can fall over before the urge to throw it out of the window becomes all consuming.

It’s undeniable though that a new unplayed with version of this figure would be…amazing, excuse the pun. It’s easy to recreate classic Spider-Man poses which means that this figure simply is a miniature Spider-Man rather than just being a semi-static figure on a shelf. Two sets of hands are included, a web shooting set and a pair of fists which give plenty of scope for extra poses. It would have been nice to see a pair of open hands with splayed fingers included too to replicate Spidey’s crawling poses but it’s not a big deal as there’s plenty here to go with.

This figure also comes with part of the Ultimate Green Goblin Build-A-Figure but this one didn’t have it. I’m sure I’ll pick another one of these in future so will edit in the box and BAF part pictures along with some new poses. Marvel Legends Spider-Man is a great figure to get acquainted with the Marvel Legends series but that is a double edge sword as now there are a lot more figures to buy.
